Ayia Napa Soccer Festival 2020 will take place between April 11-16

The greatest football academy tournament of the Eastern Mediterranean will take place for the 20th consecutive year with a very important innovation in the tournament’s structure

The Ayia Napa Soccer Festival 2020 might be nine months away from now, but the organizers have already began the preparations for the 20th consecutive tournament. The kick-off for the famous international tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 11th and the finals will be played on Thursday, April 16th.

Boys and girls born from 2004 and onwards can be registered from their teams in the tournaments’ official webpage: www.ayianapasoccerfestival.com.

«We never stop working towards quality upgrades and innovations that will allow even more teams from abroad to participate in the tournament. There is a very high demand from teams representing many countries and we have proved that we can meet all the expectations for the teams and their representative. With the great support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, as well as from our collaborators, the tournament has progressed and the reviews from the participants and spectators of this year’s tournament were very positive» stated Mr. Christos Constantinou, representing the organizers SoccerWorldCyprus.

Important innovations

Within the boundaries of the tournament’s upgrade, the organizers have decided on a very important innovation. A new intermediate category will be added in the knock out games, composed by teams participating in both EAGLES and LIONS categories.

The goals and objectives of this decision, as well as other regulations are:

  • Avoidance of level unbalance between the teams.
  • Correction of any possible injustice and wrong team placements in the LIONS category.
  • Eliminating any prejudice between the teams in consideration of the teams level and category registered.
  • Increasing the interest and motivation for all participating teams.
  • Increasing the game numbers for every team and football player, providing the opportunity for more children to participate in more games and for more playing time.
  • Discharging of coaches and parents from the pressure of qualification and failure.
  • Providing the opportunity from the teams visiting from abroad to participate in more games.

More information for the addition of the intermediate category in the knock out games and any other decisions in relation with the rules and regulations of the next tournament will be announced in the next few weeks on the tournament’s official webpage.
